GBWD Episode 7: Seth Kaplan Part 3 What is the difference between being injured vs. hurt & the role psychology plays in recovery?

This week’s podcast is the final portion with Seth Kaplan, M.Ed. the CEO and Director of Peak Performance for Corporate Warrior Consulting (CWC) and Elite Performance Coaching (EPC). In Episode 7 we dive into what it means to be injured versus hurt and the role psychology plays in recovery and that final push to return to play. We also discuss understanding when is the right time to return to the field, in the midst of a season, and the risk factors you must take into consideration.

Learn about navigating the risk factors and the mind set of returning to the field too early, are you better at 80% healed than your replacement vs. sitting out a little longer? In a sport like football if you go back at 80% recovered, would you be jeopardizing the health of your teammates if you end up going back too soon?

Is it a good idea to worry about timelines for return to playing after injury or surgery?

Lastly, learn how mental conditioning can help you sustain that high level of performance i.e. you are a 36 hole leader at the Masters and you are 18 holes away from your first green jacket, what can you do to not choke?

Currently, Kaplan provides the Corporate Warrior Peak Performance Program and Adaptive Leadership Program for Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).  In addition, he is recognized as one of the leading Mental Conditioning/Golf Psychology Coaches in the country.  As CEO and Director of Mental Conditioning for Elite Performance Coaching (EPC), Kaplan works with numerous amateur, collegiate, and pro athletes in a variety of sports. Formerly, Kaplan taught Sports Psychology as an adjunct instructor at Duke University, and from 2012-2018 served as Coordinator of Mental Training and Leadership Development for the Baltimore Orioles. In his 7 years with the organization Kaplan helped the club to post 5 winning seasons and earn 3 trips to the playoffs.
